John Street School students in grades K-6 were treated to an unforgettable experience when nationally acclaimed comic-magician Brian Richards brought his signature “The bGreat Show” to their gymnasium on April 23.

Through a mix of comedy, magic, storytelling and audience participation, the show teaches students about the important qualities of trustworthiness, caring, responsibility, fairness, respect and citizenship. Two assemblies were held for students in grades 4-6, and then K-3. “The bGreat Show” was a PTA Cultural Arts Assembly.

STEAM Museum at JSS

John Street School students enjoyed a STEAM Museum, presented by Mobile Ed. Productions. Students participated in hands-on activities at stations, including Buzzwire, Prehistoric Playground and StrikeLight! This fun event was hosted by the school’s PTA.

JSS Fifth Graders Visit Commerce Plaza

John Street School fifth graders participated in an engaging, hands-on experience at Commerce Plaza in Levittown on March 11.

In preparation for the visit, students spent time in the classroom learning about banking, managing finances and the fundamentals of financial literacy. At Commerce Plaza, the fifth graders dressed in their finest business attire to role-play various jobs within a simulated business. They wrote checks, paid bills online, visited the ATM machine and worked hard at their assigned job.

“The students said it was the best trip they ever went on!” Karen Perlak, a fifth grade teacher, said.
