On behalf of the Board of Education and our entire school district, I want to share my heartfelt gratitude for your support of the $37.95 million capital improvement bond proposition. Your “yes” vote is a meaningful investment in our students, our staff, and the future of our Franklin Square community.
This bond is about much more than buildings and systems. It reflects a shared commitment to providing safe, healthy, and modern learning spaces where every child can learn, grow, and reach their potential.
The work ahead will focus on four key areas:
• Security enhancements that will provide upgraded door access control systems to keep our schools safe for learning.
• Site and accessibility improvements that will repair exterior stairs, ramps, and steps, ensuring our facilities are welcoming and accessible to all.
• Infrastructure repairs and upgrades including roof and window replacements, new fire alarm systems, corridor ceiling and wall repairs, and emergency lighting updates to keep our buildings in strong condition.
• HVAC and ventilation system updates that will improve air quality and create more comfortable spaces for students and staff.
We are now working with our architects to begin the approval process with the New York State Education Department and will continue to share updates as the work moves forward.
Thank you again for your trust, partnership, and support of our schools. Together, we are building a stronger future for every child in Franklin Square.
Best,
Dr. Jared Bloom
Superintendent

For Hispanic Heritage Month, held from Sept. 15-Oct. 15, John Street School played a school-wide bingo game using vocabulary words in Spanish. Sixth graders went into classrooms and helped out as the callers.
Additionally, the school has displayed a bulletin board, “One Heritage, Many Flags,” where each class designed a flag representing one of the Spanish-speaking countries. Students and staff have had a blast celebrating!

It is anticipated that a motion to go into Executive Session will be made immediately to discuss agenda items, personnel, and matters within the attorney-client relationship.
Public session will convene at 6:00 p.m.
Additionally, a Public Hearing of the Board of Education of the Franklin Square UFSD will be held for the purpose of hearing all interested parties and citizens regarding the 2025-26 District-Wide Safety Plan for submission to the New York State Education Department.
The regular Business Meeting will immediately follow the Public Hearing.
Congratulations to our sixth graders at John Street, Polk Street and Washington Street schools on their moving ups! We wish them all the best as they embark on this exciting new chapter.

Our final Kids Corner of the school year has been posted!
