Polk Street School students celebrated Lunar New Year throughout the school day on Jan. 27.
First graders started the day with a feast of Chinese food. Adorned in festive Lunar New Year hats, the students ate and enjoyed a Dragon Dance performance by the sixth graders. The sixth graders also performed their Dragon Dance, gymnastics and drums in the gymnasium for students in grades K-2. The students created their own dragon masks, and the performance began with an explanation of the tradition of Dragon Dances for the Lunar New Year.
