Students smiling together in classroom.

John Street School students celebrated the culmination of Hispanic Heritage Month with a game of Spanish Bingo, bringing buddy classes together for an afternoon of learning, collaboration and fun.

Throughout the month, students expanded their Spanish vocabulary through a schoolwide initiative in which approximately 45 Spanish words and their English translations were shared during the announcements. The daily words introduced students to new terms while fostering an appreciation for the Spanish language. Some of the words included “amarillo,” “beber,” “globo,” “cabeza” and “mesa.”

The culminating bingo event gave students an opportunity to put their newfound knowledge into practice while strengthening connections with their buddy classmates. Working together, students listened for Spanish words, searched for matches on their bingo cards and cheered one another on throughout the friendly competition.
