As Polk Street School and Washington Street School students excitedly walked through the school doors to begin a new academic year, they were met with smiles, high-fives, and words of encouragement from two familiar faces marking a special milestone: their final first day of school as principals.
After decades of dedicated service in education and years of leadership within the district, Washington Street Principal John Stella and Polk Street Principal Gilbert Torossian officially kicked off their last school year before retiring in June 2027.
