The stage at Washington Street School came alive with music and energy during the Franklin Square Union Free School District’s recent production of Disney’s “The Lion King Jr.,” presented through the annual partnership with local theater organization Plaza Theatricals.
Over the course of several weeks, approximately 85 district students immersed themselves in the world of theater, taking on lead roles and as part of the ensemble. The experience introduced them to the many elements that go into a successful performance, from learning stage direction and timing to building strong character portrayals.
The production featured a series of high-energy musical numbers that showcased the cast’s hard work, including audience favorites like “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” “Hakuna Matata” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” which brought the story’s spirit and excitement to life.
