John Street School observed the nationwide Global Day of Play on Feb. 5, turning the entire building into a space for creativity, connection and fun. Students from pre-K through sixth grade spent the day engaging with one another through card games, board games and a variety of hands-on, screen-free activities.
Pre-K and kindergarten students partnered together for the celebration, with each classroom offering a different themed experience, including building, sensory exploration and imaginative play. Sixth grade students also embraced the day, playing games together and connecting with their classmates.
Observed annually in February, Global Day of Play highlights the importance of unstructured, regular play and its vital role in children’s learning, creativity and social development.
