John Street School students in grades 3-6 enjoyed a hands-on introduction to chemistry during the Mad Science assembly, “Spin, Pop, Boom,” on Jan. 15. Through exciting demonstrations, students learned about acids and bases and eagerly volunteered to help melt Styrofoam cups, create slim and produce giant foam, also known as “Elephant Toothpaste.”
The assembly ended with a “boom,” as the Mad Scientist mixed ethyl alcohol with oxygen in a bottle to create a chemical reaction.
