The district’s successful robotics program is underway for this school year. Following an interview and application process, 15 sixth grade students from across the district were selected to join the team.
In preparation for the STEP Statewide Robotics Competition at Adelphi University in May, the robotics students meet twice a week after school to design, build and program robots using SPIKE Prime Lego kits. They are guided by teachers Julia Caiazzo, Matt Dornemann, Karen Perlak and Maggie Tittler, along with 10 volunteer coaches from H. Frank Carey High School.
During their meeting on Dec. 17, students completed both an ultrasonic sensor challenge and a cube challenge, further strengthening their problem-solving and programming skills.
