Franklin Square Board of Education Meeting – May 8, 2013
The regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Franklin Square Elementary School District was called to order on May 8, 2013.
At the regular meeting, the Board took the following actions:
- accepted Treasurer’s Report for the period ending March 31, 2013
- approved 1 Civil Service permanent appointment
- approved 2 per diem substitute teachers
Ms. Theresa Hennessy, Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Management, presented information on the proposed three part budget for the 2013-2014 school year. Ms. Hennessy explained that the three part budget is comprised of the Administrative, Capital, and Program Components, with the Program component accounting for the vast majority of our expenditures. The three components of revenue were also explained as State Aid, Local Revenue, and the Tax Levy, with the tax levy representing our most significant revenue source. The Budget to Budget increase for the 2013-14 proposal was presented as 3.28% the tax levy increase is 3.37% and the estimated annual tax increase for the average home was presented as $107.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Education will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at the Washington Street School.
Public session will commence at 8:00 p.m.
The Board of Education and Mr. Patrick Manley, Superintendent of Schools, congratulates Ms. Valerie Mazzone, Principal of Washington Street School, and Mr. Thomas Riccobono, Assistant Principal of Polk Street School, for being awarded Tenure in the District!
