Franklin Square Board of Education Meeting – May 6, 2015

The regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Franklin Square Elementary School District was called to order on May 6, 2015.

At the regular meeting, the Board took the following actions:

  • accepted Treasurer’s Report for the period ending March 31, 2015
  • accepted 1 termination
  • approved 2 leave of absence requests
  • approved 1 Civil Service permanent appointment
  • approved 1 Civil Service probationary appointment
  • approved 2 per diem substitutes


Mr. Patrick Manley, Superintendent of Schools, introduced Ms. Hennessy who presented information on the proposed three part budget for the 2015-2016 school year. Ms. Hennessy explained that the three part budget is comprised of the Administrative, Capital, and Program Components, with the Program component accounting for the vast majority of our expenditures. The three components of revenue were also explained as State Aid, Local Revenue, and the Tax Levy, with the tax levy representing our most significant revenue source. The Budget to Budget increase for the 2015-2016 proposal was presented as 1.3% and the tax levy increase is 1.71% and the estimated annual tax increase for the average home was presented as $53.

Mr. Lee presented on the technology status for the district.
